Tommy Castellanos, the former Florida State quarterback, is transitioning to wide receiver as he pursues an NFL opportunity this spring.
Castellanos has accepted rookie minicamp invitations from both the Tennessee Titans and the Miami Dolphins, and will be listed as a wide receiver at both stops. He has confirmed plans to attend the Titans' minicamp and is also set to appear at the Dolphins' minicamp.
The position switch is not uncommon for college quarterbacks with elite athleticism who lack the profile to compete at the position professionally. Castellanos drew attention at Florida State for his playmaking ability and open-field athleticism — traits that translate more readily to the receiver position at the next level.
Castellanos will have two opportunities to impress NFL coaching staffs this spring as he looks to make a case for himself on the outside.
